Company History

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management, Kevin Mullins, started his career working for Microsoft in Wokingham, Berkshire.  Starting off as a a Microsoft Office Support Specialist and migrating to a developer escalation engineer, focusing on Visual Basic, Access and VBA technologies.

The lure of the big city encouraged Kevin to move to London after three enjoyable years with Microsoft and he spent the first three years in London working for a medium sized Microsoft solutions provider, working for such clients as BT, ING Barings, Salomon Brothers, News International and The Civil Aviation Authority.

Whilst at Microsoft, Kevin had been exposed briefly to the very early concepts of the Internet and his fascination with web technology and the potential it held encouraged him, in early 1998, to leave the comfort of secure employment to form KDM Technologies Ltd.

Our first client was Deutsche Bank, where we worked on several projects including a highly complex Back/Front office reconciliation system and several web based tools for Bank of England regulatory reporting.

Kevin soon realised that in order to fulfil his ambition of building a business that empowered people to use the internet to its ful potential, he needed to target multiple businesses and encourage the use of dynamic, content driven web sites.

Whilst still focusing on desktop based, bespoke applications, KDM Technologies started projects for clients such as MI5, the Department of Trade and Industry, Pepsi Co International and many small businesses.

For the larger business requirements we used (and gained great knowledge of), Microsoft Content Management Server and SharePoint Portal Server.  For our smaller clients, we delivered bespoke, robust and attractive websites utilising our own custom built Content Management system.

Being Welsh, Kevin had (and still has) a great love of Rugby and the site he built for his own team at London Welsh encouraged him to seek opportunities in the rugby and sporting markets.  To date, we have worked on many sports based websites and solutions including the main London Welsh RFC website and Samurai Sports - two of the most recognisable brands in world rugby today.

It was this love of rugby, that encouraged Kevin to build his first ecommerce site using the Actinic software tool.  The site, Rugby Memories (since sold), quickly became one of the most popular and commercially successful rugby memorabilia websites on the internet at one time holding over 10,000 items of unique rugby memorabilia and attracting customers from over 50 countries.

Since then, KDM Technologies have developed many ecommerce sites based on the Actinic technology and the most recent one is The Midnight Lounge, which has fast become a very sucesful site for the client.

More recently, the business has grown and we moved out of our offices in Egham, Surrey when the business relocated to Malmesbury, Wiltshire (it's a very beautiful place).

During the summer of 2006 we started work on several projects for Grosvenor the Duke of Westminster's property firm.  We undertook a large project to develop a full Microsoft content managed version of their corporate website grosvenor.com which was launched, successfully in April 2007.

We continue to work with all sections of industry, and recently were awarded a support and ongoing development contract for PepsiCo UK.

Going forward, KDM Technologies will continue to embrace cutting edge technology, both web solutions and desktop based.  We are committed to our small, medium and large clients alike.

The Future

We still have a vision for the company and actively pursue our business goals and ideals.  The future, for web content management, is SharePoint Server 2007 and whilst we will always offer Microsoft Content Management services, we will be actively encouraging our corporate clients to migrate to SharePoint

For our ecommerce side of the business we are now actively developing complete ecommerce sites using the latest versions of Actinic, incorporating full online payment gateway compatibility and search engine optimisation techniques.

We will be developing our hosting solutions further during Q3 and Q4 of 2007, and also start delivering our first commercially available retail products, including a whole suite of add-ons for Actinic and some great business management software.

We continue to use KDM Technologies for our web and database solutions.  They have always delivered a great service, professional, friendly and cost efficient.   (Rob Monk - I.T Director, PepsiCo UK)
